Examining impressions
ConceptExamining an impression separates the apparent thing, its parts and one’s judgment about it.
Explanation or usage
Stoic reflection can involve examining what appears to the mind, considering an object's parts and context, and distinguishing what is perceived from the judgment added to it. This does not mean perception is infallible or that emotions can be eliminated at will.
Common misunderstandings
The first impression must always be accepted as a complete judgment.
